In fact, rather than offering all-new voice work, Crazy Taxi 3 reuses most of the voice samples from the previous games. Finally, Crazy Taxi 3 reuses the same announcer as the previous games: an actor doing his best impression of American radio personality Robert "Wolfman Jack" Smith. Also, for some reason, your passengers will sometimes give you wrong directions-they'll sit up in the back of the cab and demand that you turn left or right, even if the objective is straight ahead. However, some of the samples seem too quiet, especially for groups of passengers, who often mumble their lines. Basically, they'll curse you out for driving too slowly, and your driver will tell them to shut up. Like the previous games in the series, Crazy Taxi 3 has humorous voice samples for your drivers and their passengers. They're as suitable an accompaniment as ever for flying down a straightaway or tearing around a corner at high speed, but if you've played the previous Crazy Taxi games, you've heard them before, and you may even be tired of them already. Crazy Taxi 3 also includes all the upbeat rock songs from the previous two games. The new Glitter Oasis level has a few new fast-paced, frantic music tracks that seem suitable for the first few minutes, but they have long-winded guitar riffs and insipid choruses that become repetitive pretty quickly. At certain points in the level, you'll run into some very nasty slowdown, especially if you try to perform a crazy dash or crazy hop in areas with lots of oncoming traffic or obstacles.Ĭrazy Taxi 3 doesn't sound quite as good as it looks. Unfortunately, the new Glitter Oasis level, which begins on a busy thoroughfare that's supposed to resemble the Las Vegas strip, is a bit too busy. And all three of Crazy Taxi 3's driving levels have new special effects as you drive, like the new smoke trails behind your taxi when you perform a crazy dash and the new motion-blur effect on your taxi's chassis and headlights, which is most noticeable when making a sharp turn. The game features enhanced versions of the West Coast and Small Apple levels, including better-looking textures on the buildings and reflections off car bodies and windshields. ![]() Now Playing: Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller Video ReviewĬrazy Taxi 3 looks better than the previous games in the series, which used simple textures in their 3D environments so the games could run at consistently fast frame rates. It also let you pick up multiple passengers and had a new maneuver-the crazy hop-that let your taxi leap into the air.īy clicking 'enter', you agree to GameSpot's Crazy Taxi 2 was released for the Dreamcast in 2001, and it had a new level called the Small Apple (modeled after New York City) to play in. Crazy Taxi was easy to pick up and play, and thanks to the Dreamcast version's time-based missions, which let you play for three, five, or 10 minutes at a stretch, it was also easy to pick up and put down again. Both versions were good, simple driving games in which you played as a cab driver who had to drive the streets of the West Coast (in a city modeled after San Francisco), pick up passengers, and drive them to their destinations as quickly as possible. The original Crazy Taxi hit arcades in 1999, and it later appeared on the Dreamcast in 2000. ![]() Crazy Taxi 3 features some new drivers and a new course. However, if you're not a huge fan or a newcomer to the series, you may find that Crazy Taxi 3 doesn't have much more to keep you coming back. If you're a huge fan of Crazy Taxi, or if you've never played any of the previous games, you may find a lot to like about Crazy Taxi 3-if nothing else, it's a compilation of the previous two games that improves upon those games' maps and gameplay. That sounds like a lot of good stuff, but unfortunately, that's about all there is. It also has a brand-new circuit, the Glitter Oasis (modeled after Las Vegas), four new drivers for that course, and a lot of new minigames. It has the West Coast and Small Apple levels, all the previous two games' cab drivers, the same frantic action, and the minigames from Crazy Taxi 2. Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller for the Xbox has everything from the previous two games. ![]() ![]() You play a hole, check your phone after, and it will tell you what club you hit, where you were, how far the shot was, and how many putts you took. 95% of the time, Arccos gets everything exactly right. “There’s no way this will work as advertised,” is what I thought to myself.Ĭouldn’t have been more wrong. – as they have to be, since there is no tapping involved.īefore I played my first round with Arccos, I was extremely skeptical as to how thus would work. On top of the GPS being higher quality, the sensors are much more advanced as well. You usually notice this the most when you’re on the edge of the green or on the edge of a fairway – and it doesn’t recognize it as such. Now Arccos isn’t perfect in this regard, but generally speaking it’s always been pretty close when it isn’t dead on. There were times I’d be in the center of the green, and it would have me 25 yards off in a bunker. In fact, the GPS accuracy was one of my biggest complaints about GG in my original review. In practice, I found the GPS to be much more accurate on the Arccos System than I did on the Game Golf system. You can play your round, get real time information, and generally not have it interfere with your golfing experience. This system also doesn’t require you to tap before shots. Rather than using a separate GPS, it’s using the GPS that’s built into your iPhone to track your distances. Then after the round you can collect your data, and start your analysis.Īrccos, and their proprietary technology that was originally licensed from Callaway is a bit more advanced. ![]() Before each shot you tap your club to the sensor, and it registers your position on the course. ![]() There’s no phone interface for while you’re on the course, it’s simply a matter of tap –> buzz–> hit –>repeat –>download.Įach club has a red sensor that screws into the club, and you wear another larger sensor on your belt. Game Golf as a product was first to market, and is generally a more simple product. Because with a device that’s supposed to track every single shot of your round, and give you accurate distances down to a yard – the technology behind these devices is absolutely crucial. This is where things really start to get important. Presentation/Looks: Arccos Golf Technology Personally, I prefer the sleekness and more modern look that Arccos has going for it, but this one in the end is really all about personal preference. It’s clear that both brands have put a lot of time and effort into their branding and image, and it comes across really well in both instances. The box and presentation of both products all look great. With Arccos opting for a Black/Neon Green color scheme and Game Golf going for bright red. Presentation/Looksīoth Game Golf and Arccos were designed to be bold. Note: You can find my original review of Game Golf here, and my original review of Arccos Golf here. So let’s jump right in and start taking a look at each of the devices and the differences between each. They both have slightly different ways of getting there, but both do a good job of getting the final result – it’s more a matter of personal preference and what your goals are. They can give you shot distances, and post round statistics that are much more in depth and valuable than anything we’ve currently seen. I’ve probably played more rounds with both systems than anyone else, so I feel I have a unique perspective and ability to write about the pros and cons of each.Īlso, you can see my reviews of other Arccos products:īefore we go too far into the differences in the devices, it’s important to look at what they both are, and why you’d want them.Įssentially both devices track every aspect of every round you play. My goal with this article is to give you an extremely, in-depth and honest look at the pros and cons of both Game Golf and Arccos. Arccos is the newcomer to the space, who have just finished their round of pre-sales and have just recently launched in Dicks Sporting Goods and the Apple Store – among other places. Game Golf has been around for about a year now, and they’ve continued to evolve their product into one of the most popular golf devices on the market today. This year there are two names that I’ve heard more than any other when it comes to pushing the limits of golf technology: Game Golf and Arccos Golf. I think if we’re going to get a younger generation playing more often, the more we can leverage technology to help them grow their game – the better. MO2 reads from and writes to a couple of folders in documents/ and appdata/local/ that get created when installing the game, unfortunately, the GoG version uses different folders. Another couple left along with us because they were also fed up with the blatant lack of professionalism and courtesy of the staff. The staff member responded by telling us to settle up with the pilot before departing (we prepaid). We let the staff know in case they went to do a headcount and noticed we were gone, but they weren't operating with procedures. Once they located the vehicle with the flat, we decided to get our own transportation back to our car. They drove us around for another 30 plus minutes making loops on the highway with no clear destination. The right move would be to drop us off, then go back to offer your help and pick up the other vans passengers. Legally you can't keep us in your vehicle. We asked if they could drop us off at our cars first and they refused. Our driver/staff member said we were going back to help. Once we finally left the landing area we were about 12 minutes away from being dropped off to our personal vehicles when the other van/trailer called saying they had a flat. The pilot was smoking his cigarette during this experience as he stood alongside the tanks and flames.
